Those arrogant IIT aspirants in our class were damn wrong. They dont know shit.
Let me explain: Fermat's principle does not explain refraction. Read wikipedia's entry on Fermat's principle and you'll know what I'm talking about.
Undoubtedly, Fermat's principle proposes a result which is true, but bear in mind that it is a result, and not an explanation. I pointed this out to Tuteja and company but, as always, my words fell on deaf (and extremely arrogant) ears.
Anyway, presently I'm inundated with work. I have no time at all for anything. So see ya around.

Pierre de Fermat (pronounced Fair-mah) (August 17, 1601 – January 12, 1665) was a French lawyer at the Parlement of Toulouse, southwestern France, and a mathematician who is given credit for his contribution towards the development of modern calculus. With his insightful theorems Fermat created the modern theory of numbers. The depth of his work can be gauged by the fact that many of his results were not proved for over a century after his death, and one of them, the Last Theorem, took more than three centuries to prove.
